DENVER, CO (December 2022) - Youth and young adults experiencing mental health crises in 17 Colorado counties have a new option for in-home support when reaching out to Colorado Crisis Services. The Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) launched the Crisis Resolution Team Pilot Program (CRT) in Delta, Montrose, Mesa, Weld, Adams, Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert, Fremont, Chaffee, Lake, Custer, Denver, Jefferson, Gilpin, Clear Creek, and El Paso counties to redirect youth and young adults from hospital admission by wrapping services around the family at home.
“The BHA recognizes the urgent need to improve crisis response services for Colorado children, youth, and families. Our newest pilot program is a life-saving approach with the potential to offer tools for crisis responders and families to de-escalate and stabilize crisis moments when our youth are most in need of meaningful care,” said BHA Commissioner Dr. Morgan Medlock.
CRT is a transformational, new team-based approach for mental health crisis support, with a team of providers making home visits to provide care. Each family will have access to a number of services including counseling/therapy, case management to support clients and families in meeting their treatment plan needs, peer support and/or family skills coaching to foster connectedness, goal setting, and forming new routines to achieve positive, lasting change, medication management, and care coordination to provide tailored support and foster connection with additional community resources to best meet the needs of the family.
The CRT program supports families with youth and young adults who are experiencing behavioral health challenges and would benefit from intensive, short-term (6-8 weeks), in-home services and connection to ongoing support. CRT services are available to Colorado youth and young adults ages 0 – 21.
Families and caregivers in the 17 Colorado counties can access the program through Colorado Crisis Services by calling 1-844-493-TALK (8255), texting “TALK” to 38255, or visiting a local walk-in center location.
Colorado Crisis Services support is available regardless of a person’s ability to pay. If an individual has private insurance, a co-payment, or other out-of-pocket expenses, there may be payment required depending on the plan coverage of your insurance provider. However, no payment is required at the time of service, and no person will be turned away for crisis services, regardless of their ability to pay.
