Note: At CDHS, Black History Month is a reminder of our ongoing commitment to prioritize people, employees, clients and our collective uniqueness. Throughout February, we are sharing the voices of four local African-American leaders who exemplify excellence. Every day, these individuals positively contribute to our nation's history through their individual commitment of accelerating the journey towards improved lives and healthier communities.

I am my ancestors. The beginning of civilization and I am a proud Black man with the original essences of the Most High. Being a Black man is liberating, the meaning of strength and my skin makes me a King. My every breath exemplifies Black excellence whenever healing is at the center of any struggle.

Many want our rhythm but don’t want our blues which is why Black History Month is 365 days a year for me. Highlighting the stories of Black leaders is pivotal when it comes to exposure and knowledge of knowing the difference between conditioning versus societal collectivism. Without Black history there is no American history and until those conversations are fostered behind closed doors there is illegitimate hope for inclusion. If one is not willing to see how they are carrying around racist ideologies and unable to sit in the circle among themselves to take accountability there is no need for another “inclusive” committee or book club.

As the CEO/founder of Inner Self and Wisdom, LLC private therapy practice, I am walking on my divine path as a healer. My two children embody their excellences and my responsibility as an experienced teacher to assure that we continue to destroy family generational curse, cycles and patterns. I am a father, protector, provider and community revolutionist. I am the first person from Denver (Park Hill) to win the Association of Black Psychologists' Community Service Award. My most recent award was the Urban Leadership Foundation of Colorado's Wellington and Wilma Webb Leadership and Legacy Award, a great honor to be celebrated by my community and colleagues.

I am here to speak my truth as well as live it through my spirit and my legacy. The community will always have unity when we heal together so we can create systems within systems. We have everything we need.

Happy Black History Month/Year!
