The Veterans Community Living Center Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants to fill two vacancies on its seven-member board.
Board positions are appointed by the governor for a four-year term of office. Candidates must be Colorado residents and meet one of the two criteria: clinical experience in nursing homes, or multi-facility management of nursing homes. Military veterans are encouraged to apply.
The functions of the Board of Commissioners are to:
- Advise the office, veterans centers, and Veterans Community Living Centers located in Monte Vista (Homelake), Florence, Rifle, Aurora (Fitzsimons), and Walsenburg (Spanish Peaks);
- Provide continuity, predictability and stability in the operation of the veterans centers; and
- Provide guidance to future administrators at the veterans centers based on the collective institutional memory of the Board of Commissioners.
Board members meet every other month for 2-3 hours per meeting. Meetings are being held virtually, but after COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, they will be held at Veterans Community Living Centers located throughout Colorado.
CDHS values broad, diverse representation on its boards to ensure adequate representation of stakeholders and the public. If you or someone you know is interested in serving the State of Colorado in this capacity, please submit, or encourage them to submit, an application by April 15. Apply here.
