Colorado Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) Names Kelly Causey as Deputy Commissioner of Engagement

 DENVER, CO (November 12, 2023) -The Colorado Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) proudly welcomes Kelly Causey, PhD to the pivotal role of Deputy Commissioner of Engagement. In this capacity, Causey brings her commitment to collaboration and equity, aligning seamlessly with BHA's values, as well as her extensive experience working with the communities BHA serves. Causey is charged with driving inclusive initiatives and complementing BHA’s dedication to ensuring accessible and affordable behavioral health care for all people in Colorado.

 

As Deputy Commissioner of Engagement, Causey will oversee critical divisions, including Communications, Policy, Intergovernmental and Engagement divisions, as well as children, youth, and families work. Her role extends to being the executive champion for equity initiatives within the administration.

This work feels personal to me, as I have dedicated much of my professional life to public service. It is an honor to continue this work on a statewide level, and implement real change in the way people in Colorado access and receive behavioral health care,” said Kelly Causey, Deputy Commissioner of Engagement at the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration. 

 

Causey has a history of advocacy and leadership. Previously serving as the President and CEO of the Colorado Children's Campaign for seven years, she played a vital role in advancing the organization's mission and advocating for the well-being of children in Colorado. Before that, Causey served as the CEO of Mile High Youth Corps for 18 years, which engaged hundreds of young people in community-based projects in 15 counties. She also holds a Ph.D. in health and behavioral sciences from the University of Colorado Denver and a B.A. in psychology from Scripps College. With nearly three decades of residence in Colorado, she has become an integral part of the community.
