The Colorado Department of Human Services is grateful to our longtime partners at King Soopers — not just for employing residents of CDHS’s Wheat Ridge Regional Center for the past 30 years, but for stepping up this week and donating basic food items during a time of need.
Wheat Ridge Regional Center houses individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, some of whom work at a King Soopers facility that processes semi-damaged food goods that can’t be sold to the public.
When team members mentioned the difficulty they were having obtaining staple items for some of their group homes, King Soopers stepped up, donating three pallets of semi-damaged food to feed the residents of Wheat Ridge Regional Center homes.
Dawn Jacobs, director of Wheat Ridge Regional Center, said, “We are very touched by everything King Soopers has done for us. Not only have they supported us through an employment partnership for over 30 years, but they also continue to support us in this rare time of need.”
