August 26, 2025: Colorado’s Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) is seeking public comment through September 30, 2025, on the combined application for Mental Health Block Grant (MHBG) and Substance Use Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery Support Services Block Grant (SUPTRS BG) for Federal Fiscal Years 2026-2027.

Mandated by Congress, the noncompetitive block grants provide funding to all states and territories for behavioral health services and funds are intended for four purposes:

  1. Treatment and support services for uninsured or underinsured individuals
  2. Treatment and support services that are not covered by Medicaid, Medicare, or private insurance
  3. Prevention activities and services for individuals not identified as needing treatment
  4. Collect data to determine the ongoing effectiveness of the statewide behavioral health system

BHA is the state agency responsible for administering the federal block grant programs and using funds to support the people of Colorado in need of behavioral health services.
