From BHA Commissioner Dr. Morgan Medlock:
On November 19, 2022, our community of Colorado Springs and the LGBTQIA+ community across Colorado and the nation were touched with the pain of violence and hate as a result of the tragedy at Club Q. The tragic act of gun violence occurred alongside Transgender Day of Remembrance, an annual observance that honors the memory of transgender people whose lives have been taken in acts of violence.
In accordance with our values of truth, equity, and community-informed practice, the Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) stands against violence, hate, and dehumanization in all its forms. The BHA offers the following resources to support people in Colorado, including resources for our Colorado Springs community, specifically.
We mourn with our LGBTQIA+ community and everyone impacted by this tragedy. The BHA remains focused on its mission of co-creating a people-first behavioral health system that meets the needs of all people in Colorado.
Please use this Resource guide with crisis services, local resources and LGBTQIA+ specific organizations to reach out to at this time.
